Boasting a table with the same area as a small bedroom, vitrines large enough to encase a standing woman, enough intricate printwork to fill volumes, and over 800 suedette panels, the simple sophistication of this space belies its grander aspects. A collaboration with Mentze Ottenstein architects, we detailed, built and installed this tenebristic exhibition of Arabic artifacts. Being one of the finest collections of Islamic art in the west, the challenge was to build around the highly rigorous material standards to uphold conservation and security. The soft luxury of the displays served as a worthy backdrop to the priceless pieces on display.
